We're finally all home!!

At last we are a complete family - at home together! We were able to bring Piper home Wednesday to join her brothers. It was a joyous day!

As you can see Big Brother Owen is glad to have all of his babies at home together too. He loves them very much, but does not like it when they cry. As soon as they do he runs to get his Ipod (which he got as a present from the babies when they were born to help drown out their crying). Every four year old needs their own Ipod, right?! Anyway, he likes to use it to cover up their crying but also he uses it to try to soothe the babies since it does have an external speaker shaped like a dog. He knows which one is Piper since she is almost always in pink, but he has a hard time telling Kyle and Landon apart. I'm sure he'll learn in time.

Piper came home on a monitor. It monitors her heartrate and her respirations. We don't expect she will be on the monitor for very long. She does not have many events that cause the monitor to alarm and even when she does (it has happened once since we've been home) she self corrects the heartrate drop within a second or two. The monitor itself has a pretty long cord which allows us to have some freedom with her. So although it is not the best situation to have her hooked up to cords, it's not as big of a hassle as it sounds like. We're just glad to have her home finally and we want her to be as safe as possible.

We went to the doctor yesterday for their 4 week checkup (they are a month old today - can you believe it)! Landon is still the heavyweight - he weighed 9lbs and was 21 inches long. Kyle weighs 7lbs 10oz and is 20 inches long. Piper is not far behind - she weighs 7 1/2 lbs and is 20 1/2 inches long. They are all growing and gaining weight - the doctor was very pleased with their progress and says they all look great.

As far as sleep goes we are still taking it when we can get it. With all three home, their feedings usually take both Nate and I to get them done since they are not very patient when they get hungry. We try to feed them one right after the other to keep them on a schedule. But on the other hand we try not to feed them at the exact same time so that if only one of us is here to feed we don't have three babies screaming to be fed at once. It's a tricky balance but we're getting pretty good at it and the babies in time will learn that they don't always get what they want when they want it. Unfortunately it's going to be that way with a lot of things as they get older!

Nate goes back to work on Monday - we are going to miss having him around. But we do have a few weeks of help on their way in. Sunday my mom is going to be coming and she will stay with us for about a week. Then next weekend my dad and stepmother are coming for a week. On May 11th Nate's mom is coming to stay for about 5 days. So by then hopefully things will have settled down and maybe the triplets will be sleeping for longer stretches at night. We'll just have to wait and see!

Just so you know, I have tried to publish this post to the blog about 4 different times in the past two days. Every time I would sit down to type, something or someone else would need my attention. So I apologize for not getting this out earlier like I had promised. This is my life now and for the next few months it's going to be chaos! But I wouldn't have it any other way.

Thanks for all of your prayers and thoughts that helped to get our Piper home. We are finally complete and are so thankful for it!
